PIN verification at night

7 PM – 6 AM, mandatory

After dark, no driver can start your trip without entering the PIN shown on your screen. This prevents any vehicle substitution or impersonation after you book.

One tap triggers an alert to our 24/7 team and begins recording audio in the background. We share your live GPS location with police if you request it. Audio is retained for 90 days and then automatically deleted.

Auto-shared trip with emergency contacts

Triggered when your ride starts

When your trip begins, your nominated emergency contacts automatically receive a tracking link with your live GPS position, driver name, and vehicle registration. They can follow your journey without you doing anything.

Opt in at any time in your profile

Set your preference once in your profile and MiRide will match you with female drivers wherever available. This applies to all trip types and remains set until you change it.

Driver KYC and document verification

Every driver, no exceptions

Every driver on MiRide passes KYC identity verification and full document verification — National ID, Driver's Licence, and Vehicle Registration. We also verify that the vehicle is roadworthy and compliant. There are no exceptions.

Every driver uploads their National ID, Driver's Licence, and Vehicle Registration in the app. Our team reviews every document before a driver is activated. No driver goes live without passing this check.

Bidirectional blocking

Permanent · immediate

Any rider or driver can permanently block any other user. When you block a driver, they will never be matched to you again — and they don't know you blocked them. Drivers can block riders the same way.

Audio recording disclosure

What gets recorded, and what happens to it

What gets recorded: When you trigger SOS, audio recording begins in the app. Recording continues until you end it or the trip closes. Video is never recorded.

Where it's stored: Audio is encrypted and stored on servers within our cloud infrastructure. It does not leave our environment except when legally required.

Who can access it: Only our named safety officers can access SOS recordings, under internal access controls and logging. We never share recordings with drivers or third parties without a legal requirement.

Retention period: All SOS audio is automatically and permanently deleted after 90 days, in line with the Zimbabwe Data Protection Act. We do not retain it longer than necessary.

What to do if something happens

    The SOS button is always visible during a trip. One tap is all it takes.

  2. Our team gets your alert

    Our 24/7 team receives your live position and audio recording begins immediately.

  3. We share your GPS with police

    On request, we send your live location directly to the police. We stay on the line with you.

  4. We follow up the next day

    Our safety team contacts you to check in, take a report, and decide on any driver action.

What happens when I press the SOS button?

Can I add emergency contacts to my account?
Yes. Add up to three emergency contacts in your profile settings. When your trip starts, they automatically receive a live tracking link with your driver's name and vehicle registration.
How do I share my trip with someone?
Your nominated emergency contacts receive a tracking link automatically when your ride starts. You can also share the trip manually from the active trip screen.
What is the PIN verification at night?
Between 7 PM and 6 AM, your driver cannot start the trip without entering a PIN shown only on your screen. This prevents any vehicle substitution or impersonation after you book.
Can I request a female driver?
Yes. Set your preference in your profile settings and MiRide will match you with female drivers wherever available. The preference stays set until you change it.
What do I do if I don't feel safe during a trip?
Tap the SOS button immediately — it is always visible during a trip. Our team receives your location and audio recording begins. If you need police, we share your GPS with them directly. After the trip, our safety team will follow up with you.
